Honda FCU REMAINS your SAFE and SOUND Credit Union
It was recently announced in the media that the regulator for credit unions, NCUA (National Credit Union Administration) had placed two large Corporate Credit Unions, U.S. Central and Western Corporate Federal Credit Union, in conservatorship. This was done because these two Corporate Credit Unions, like many other financial institutions, have investment portfolios with a large amount of mortgage backed and asset backed securities that have dramatically decreased in value. The NCUA felt it was necessary to take control of the Corporates to safeguard credit unions such as ourselves who rely on the Corporates for many financial processing operations and member services. The NCUA has also taken the action to bolster the capital in these Corporates by requiring the nearly 8,000 credit unions in the country to contribute to their recapitalization.

The very positive aspect of this action is this is being done without taxpayer assistance. The credit union industry, including Honda Federal Credit Union, is taking care of problems without looking for a handout from the government.

Honda Federal Credit Union wants our membership to know that we continue to operate and serve our members in a very conservative manner, as a financial institution that proudly serves Honda associates and their family members.

We also provide additional private insurance that covers all depositors for an additional $250,000.
